"An Old Fashioned Sunday in Autumn" scheduled at
the Dahmen Barn Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 11:00 am to 4:00 p.m. The event
is for people of all ages and there is no admission fee.
Many activities are planned for lovers of antiques,
and attendees may purchase home made ice cream along
with apple pie from the contest. Enjoy live music by the
Snake River Six and the exhibit of quilts by the Palouse Patchers with the
theme of "Elements: Earth, Wind, Fire and
Water". New this year is a kids' corner with fun activities for
youngsters.
The yard behind the wheel fence will be filled with artists
and craftspeople demonstrating and selling what they create, and live alpacas
will be on display along with items handmade from their fiber. Fresh,
local produce will be available and the Uniontown Deli will have lunch items
and drinks for sale.
Local wines wrapped in local art will be the silent auction
at this event. Our resident artists are really excited about creating
containers in various mediums to envelope bottles of wine that has
been donated by local wineries from the Moscow-Pullman area and the Lewis-Clark
Valley.
A "Name the Cow" contest will culminate at
the close of this event. The cow is the new larger-than-life metal
sculpture that will be installed soon near the highway. Watch the
home page at www.artisanbarn.org for details on
the naming contest.
Artisans at the Dahmen Barn is a non-profit creativity
center in Uniontown on highway 195 in the big white barn behind the famous iron
wheel fence. The three story facility is fully handicap accessible and
has no daily admission fee. It is open Thursday through Sunday from 10 am
to 6 pm.
