Enjoy Celtic Music from Portland, Oregon, at Dahmen Barn October 19, 2013

Celtic music scheduled at the Dahmen Barn on October 19, 2013.

Coming From Portland, Oregon, where Celtic music flourishes, Brongaene Griffin, Elizabeth Nicholson and Bob Soper will play at 7:30 pm at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown on Saturday, October 19, 2013.  The cost is $10 at the door.

Brongaene Griffin  is a delightful contemporary fiddler steeped in the rich Irish tradition. A prize winning student of the legendary Kevin Burke, Bronnie learned her Irish from the best. She then went to the well of the tradition, spending several years in Ireland, busking and listening to the great tune keepers and lore masters.

Harpist/singer Elizabeth Nicholson is at the vanguard of a new generation of Celtic musicians. Considered among the top American interpreters of Irish traditional music for harp, her studies have also included classical, Paraguayan, and medieval harp, and she has stretched the traditional boundaries of the instrument into rock music and country blues.

Bob Soper is counted among Portland Oregon’s most astonishingly versatile multi-instrumentalists.  A drummer from a young age who also studied classical Indian percussion at the Ali Akbar College of Music, he went on to learn the Irish fiddle, ultimately becoming one the Northwest’s most sought after players.

Artisans at the Dahmen Barn is on highway 195 in the big white Barn behind the famous iron wheel fence.  The fully accessible faculty is open Thursday through Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm and has no daily admission fee.  Information:  www.artisanbarn.org or 509-229-3414.
